Hi there Brain
Here we are again, we made it through another week! YAY. This week has been
super productive, and I'm going to try to keep this newsletter fairly short because ~
it's Fun Friday. Remember? No work day! Hanna's in her room doing something,
so I'm going to get this out right quick.
Today's feature article is going to be a feature tip/suggestion this week.
Write ahead of time.
This feels like a crazy suggestion coming from me lol ~ I've always been the one
who sits down and writes posts the day they're going to publish. I seem more
motivated, in the moment and ready to write when I do it this way.
However, next week I'm going to be out of town. (Hanna and I are going to her
grandparents house in Tulsa). I wanted to get as much done as I could ahead of
time so I could not have to work quite so much while I am there.
This led me to finish all my writing for this week (except for the newsletter lol) by
Tuesday this week.
What amazed me is this:
Once I had my posts written there was so much time to write guest posts, conduct
extra interviews, and (this is a big one) feel like I was so productive I felt ok about
getting up from the desk, and going out to have some fun.
Interviews have been really building my traffic, and getting my name out since I
started this Time to Shine Challenge ~ and I'm finding that I absolutely LOVE
doing them ~ so being able to free up time to get ahead with them is fantastic.
It's interesting, every single person I've talked to for an interview has mentioned
how important guest posting has been ~ which has really been the kick in the pants
I needed to get moving. This extra time has allowed me to reach out to people,
and write a couple guest posts this week as well!
(stay tuned ~ one will be posted Monday while I'm away ~ I'll let you know where
on Monday ~ just check ItsaWahmLife.com Monday morning)
So that's my tip for the day... try to get your posts written and scheduled out a little
bit ahead, to free up time for other promotional methods.
Here's what's been going on this week:
On the home and kid front:
Some great meal planning tips ~ and a weeks' worth of easy nutritious meals.
How to Make Tie Dye Shirts ~ I told you I had more free time to get up and
have fun! This wasn't even a Fun Friday event! :) but it sure was fun!
I posted an interview with Michelle Stern from WhatsCookingwithKids.com this
week ~ which was part home part work. She does amazing work with Cooking
with Kids and getting families to eat a more healthy "real food diet". We talked
some about food, but mostly about how she's monetizing her website using
classes and birthday parties in the community. As well as how she's gotten
sponsors for her site and a book deal. It's a good interview so take some
time and listen. (It's about 30 minutes)
BTW, I picked up her cookbook after the interview and it's fantastic. I definitely
recommend it!
This week on my radio show Around The Kitchen Table we talked about
fun Summer activities for kids ~ it was a good show. I had some requests
for instructions on the Paintsicles ~ so here they are.
Remember we take a WAHM Coffee Break every Tuesday morning
at 10am Central Time at www.CelebrateWahms.com ~ you can sign up
to get a show reminder so you remember to take a break!
On the work front:
I talked about 2 topics that might be totally new to people this week in the
Time to Shine Challenge. I only say that because one was completely new
to me, and the other I only recently became aware of. Both are awesome
ways to connect with other bloggers, build your brand, and get traffic.
6 Tips to Rocking a Blog Hop
This post explains all about blog hops, what they are, how to use them,
and how to really rock them!
How to create a collaborative ebook
I haven't been this excited about an idea in a long while. I got the idea while
I was talking with Mandi Ehman from Life Your Way (the interview will go
up next Wednesday). It's perfect for those of you who shy away from social
media ~ and just can't get into blog commenting. Good good stuff!
This week my blog was featured in a few places ~ (thanks to the Time to Shine
activities I've been doing)
At OrgJunkie.com ~ this post has brought quite a lot of traffic my way.
At WhatsCookingWithKids.com ~ This is a permanent link and now has me
on the same page as some big name bloggers, as well as TV shows like The View
who have also interviewed Michelle.
I was also chosen as 1 of the 25 featured blogs during #commenthour on Twitter
this week ~ which brought quite a lot of traffic, and lots of comments. It also
increased my twitter subscribers by almost 100 people, as well as my fanpage followers.
I'm definitely going to write a blog post soon about effectively using commenthour.
It's been huge for me... this post had nothing on it before commenthour ~ now look.
I also realized during commenthour that I already have some raving fans in the
commenthour/sitsgirls community which was HUGE for me. :) It means to me, that
my strategy ~ and the retargeting of my audience is starting to pay off.
I've got a couple guest posts that will be going up next week, so I'll let you know as
they come up and in next week's newsletter. They're going to be good ~ and I'm
testing a new theory I've come up with. I'll let you know after I get a little more
information what the theory is and how it's working out.
Around the web:
I'll be honest I haven't been trolling the web much this week. But when I did, I found
some really good stuff...
100 Days of Real Food. This website has awesome content and information but what grabbed
me was the meteoric rise to success Lisa's had. I had to talk to her, so I shot her off an
interview request ~ and bam... within a couple days we were on the phone chit chatting about
how she's used local and national media to build her website traffic to upwards of 175K pageviews
in just a year!! WHOA! It's a good chat ~ and of course we talked a little about food ~ but
mostly about business. :) That interview will be going live on July 6th ~ so stay tuned.
I did find these super cute glow in the dark drink cups that are really easy to make and would
be super fun for the 4th of July.
I guess that's about it... I hope you have a fantastic week, and if you need anything just
hit the reply button. I will be working next week ~ so I'll get your email. (and do my best
to get back to you quickly lol)
Just a quick reminder ~ if you want to get immediate updates from either of my blogs you
can now get new posts right to email ~ just fill in the box on either site. Nothing else... just
the new posts.
Have a wonderful week ~ I'm thinking we may go to the lake today... Looks like it might
not be too windy! Talk to you soon.
