The Wahm Way Newsletter

The Wahm Way Newsletter
Hello Brain,

Here it is Friday again... I've had a big idea this week, and I worked my butt off
yesterday and today I'm left feeling a little overwhelmed, tired and completely
unmotivated. :( However, the show must go on... and here I am, about 3 hours
later than normal... but here I am. :)

The Big New Project

Big new projects, or challenges are what keep my business moving forward and
growing. I realized this recently while looking at the stats for my site over time...
It was interesting to see the times when I was doing a challenge of some sort,
or working on a series of posts... the numbers were MUCH better during those
times, much better.

It was kind of funny to see the mountains and valleys in my stats graph, and to see
how well they coordinated with the times I was just kind of coasting (the valleys) and
the times when I was working with a purpose ~ and not only that... but doing it
out loud, and encouraging people to do it right along with me.

I know in my heart my business doesn't grow (very quickly) when I am just kind of
coasting, and doing the same thing, day in and day out... write, post, tweet/facebook.
It works, yeah, but it works much better when I push myself a little bit more, when I
get out there and do something a little bit bigger, when I challenge myself to grow,
my business grows right along with me. :)

Summers can be a rough time for my business... the weather is warm, the sun is shining,
the pool is open ;), there's just so many other things that are more fun than sitting in front
of my computer all day... and since I don't have a cool phone, or a fancy tablet, at my
desk is where most of my work happens.

However, I still have to pay the mortgage and all that fun stuff during the summer months, so
I decided this year was going to be different. This year, the summer was going to be my
time to shine!

Thus the Time to Shine Challenge. :)

I have outlined 16 topics/activities/fun stuff I'm going to be doing through the next couple months.
The purpose of all these things is to Shine... to "be everywhere". Wherever my market is (and
that will be some of the first couple steps ~ determining your market, and finding them online)
I'm gonna be there. Jackie Lee will become synonymous with work at home mom. period.

It doesn't matter what industry or niche you're in, you can play along. It's not going to be hard.
It's not going to hurt... but it will take some time, some focus and a lot of action.

Now when I say time... I don't mean 25 hours a day... my plan *fingers crossed* is to be done
with work by noon. (yikes) so I can have the afternoons to play and have fun. ;) So I'm only
looking at a few hours in the morning, which means I'll have to know exactly what I'm doing,
and be super focused and get it done. (completely unlike today).

What do you say? You in? (and I promise it won't be all about twitter... ) If you're in, drop by the
post I wrote to announce the challenge
and leave a comment. Let me know you're in. While
you're at it... tweet it or like it on facebook... the more people that join in the more fun it's going
to be!

Ok, those posts will be coming to Internet Marketing for Mommies on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
My plan is also to have something fun and exciting, related to the challenge on Wahm Life on
Wednesdays... still ironing that part out. :)

So... it's been a busy week. Besides that, here's what I've been up to:

On the work front:

I've been thinking a lot about Do The Work, and the idea of understanding what it's all about,
knowing the desired outcome, for whatever you're doing from the beginning. It's really been
on my mind... I wrote a post about knowing what it's all about, and Mary K and I had
a great conversation about it on Around the Kitchen Table this week.

I picked up the new ebook, How to Have Your Cake and Eat it Too, from Mandi of
Life...Your Way. I'm just getting into it and enjoying every minute of it so far. Stay tuned
for a review.

On the home front:

I love Netflix... it's no secret, but I'm going to have to stop letting my husband get ahold
of the queue. We watched a terrible movie called Skyline this week. :( You can see the
review here. My first bad review... those aren't quite as easy to write. :)

I wrote a fun post about sorting activities. Hanna's been really into sorting lately and
we have gained hours of sorting fun from an unlikely source.

Another fantastic guest post this week on how to organize your coupons. I am in LOVE
with the coupon organizer she linked to at Etsy.

This morning... because I'm feeling so unmotivated, we made Microwave Chex Mix for a snack.
Yep, great way to procrastinate getting this newsletter out to you all. :) It was delicious though.

Our 100 Book Summer Reading Challenge is going pretty well. We're up to 37 books so far.
We're heading to the library this afternoon for more. Feel free to join in if you want to do a
reading challenge this summer with your kids ~ there's a linky on that page you can link up with us.

Around the Web:

Last night I was on a webinar with Ed Dale... who I think is pretty awesome. He runs the free
"Challenge" every year, and now he's come out with a new product. The product looks good..
and it's expensive, and the webinar was AWESOME. Tons of great information. In fact, it
ran for over and hour and a half... which is way longer than I can usually listen to something, but
such great stuff. If you're a blogger, it's definitely worth listening to. You can listen/watch the replay here.

Well that's about it from here... I wish you could hear the way my kiddo is singing at the top of her lungs
in the bathroom ~ it echoes in there lol. It's hilarious.

I'll see you next week, and hopefully I'll catch you in the comments of the Time to Shine Challenge. :)

Have an awesome holiday weekend.
